Haiti disaster relief

David Trump of the ASP is offering free software licences to people who contribute to Haiti disaster relief. This seems like a great idea to me, so I am copying it for PerfectTablePlan. I am going to try it for 24 hours and see how it goes. I am blogging about it here in case other software vendors are inspired to try it.

    Great idea, Andy!

I got inspired, and have applied it. It is now possible to get TwistedWave for free, too.

I took this down this morning.

I gave out a total of 4 free licences over 2.5 days, 2 of which were to other mISVs. Most people just carried on buying the software at the normal price. I am a little disappointed that it didn’t trigger more donations, but $200 is better than nothing. At least it shows people would rather pay $29.95 than lie that they have donated $50.

Many thanks to those that donated.

I also stopped this today. I gave out 5 licenses, for a total of $830 in donations. I think the majority would have donated anyway, or have donated before the offer. They have just taken the opportunity to get some software for free.
